Okay lets be real. Sometimes I hate the pictures just as much as my kids hate taking them. I mean, its hot outside, the sun is in their eyes, everyone just wants to go home, but yet I beg and plead to just get one more picture. Have you been in that situation? Is it worth it? So many times I have asked myself that same question. Why am I doing this, who is it benefiting? I truly value quality time with my family, but it’s really easy to forget that when you are too wrapped up in getting the “perfect” shot. I’ve learned that it’s okay to miss a few moments because the memories I make with my family are far more important. Would you rather miss a picture or quality time with family? As much as I love taking pictures nothing compares to the love I have for my family. I now make a conscious effort to find balance so everyone is happy.
Why take Photos?
1) Photos are so much fun to look back on- I mean like the time I thought it would be awesome to dye my hair bright blonde… LOL. A
2) My kids enjoy my pictures- The kids love to look back and remember happy times, sad times, life lessons, etc.
3) Photos help me see the beauty in my life. –Photos help me remember that I am truly blessed with so many happy memories and smiles and laughter.
Bottom line? Pictures are important. Take posed portraits of your family, but don't forget the candid pictures – the pictures of you having fun with your kids or interacting with them. Also, take pictures of them doing what they love to do or what you love to do as a family. Take pictures of the family moments that bring you joy. Take pictures so they can see they're beautiful. These images will not only be helpful to look back and remember but they can help to shape the future impressions your kids will have of themselves and their family.
